Main implications

This decree sets quality standards for childcare:

- The staff-child ratio: A minimum of one carer for: four children under one year of age; five children aged one to two; six children aged two to three; eight children aged three to four; ten children aged four to 12.

- Group size: A maximum of 12 children under one year of age; a maximum of 16 children up to age 13, which implies that not more than eight children are under the age of one; a maximum of 20 children aged four to 13.

- Minimum space: Three square metres per child to play inside; four square metres per child on a possible outside surface.
