Main implications

Significant changes to the Civil Law were made in 2012. The removal of Paragraphs 34 and 37 from this law was the most important. Paragraph 34 included the prohibition of marriage for persons with mental illnesses. Paragraph 37 stated that marriage was prohibited between an adopter and an adoptee. This version of the renewed Civil Law also specifies that divorce can take place at a notary and also clarifies property relations for spouses.
