Concerning priority measures for Implementation of the Government Programme for 2012-2016 and seeking to establish the objectives, principles, and direction of Lithuanian migration policy and to ensure proper control of migration processes, the Government of the Republic of Lithuanian has resolved to approve the Lithuanian Migration Policy Guidelines.

While analysing the legislative and institutional developments in the area of migration management in Lithuania since the restoration of independence, it seems that the ‘Lithuanian Migration Policy Guidelines’ should be considered the first step towards a long-term strategy and vision of migration management in Lithuania.
