Main implications

The official pension age of professional soldiers after 31 December 2012 is set at a minimum age of 55, with 25 years of work in the Polish Army and other armed forces (police, firemen, border guards, Internal Security Agency, etc.). Professional soldiers enlisted before 1 January 2012 may choose between either the old or the new scheme.

Comments & Clarifications

In 2001 the armed forces moved from the Social Security (ZUS) contributory scheme to the separate one, financed from the budget. The amendment of 2012 increases the retirement age for those covered by the armed forces pension provision.
