Comments & Clarifications

- ¹ Dagpenge is a social benefit that compensates individuals for the loss of income in case of unemployment or sickness. The benefit is calculated on the basis of the average income in the four weeks preceding the period of sickness or unemployment, and amounts to 90% of average earnings. The sickness benefit is paid by the employer in the employment period. The benefit is funded by the employer for the first 21 days, and subsequently by the municipalities. The Dagepengefond (Sickness Benefit Fund) is funded by contributions from employers and employees, as well as by optional insurance. Regarding maternity protection, sygedagpenge is a sickness benefit that can provide financial protection for mothers.
