Actors

The major part of institutions operating in the field of education are taken over by the State. In these cases: 4 § (1) The institutions operating in the field of public education shall be subject to public maintenance. 6 § (1) The rights of maintenance shall be hereafter exercised by the Klebelsberg Intézményfenntartó Központ (Klebelsberg Institution Maintenance Centre, KIK). However, in the case of one certain group of educational institutions, the local governments shall remain in charge of maintenance. As a general rule, the State shall be responsible for maintenance in case of municipalities with less than 3,000 inhabitants, while larger municipalities shall be maintained by the local government; however, some exceptions exist.
